Impact

This dashboard has transformed data transparency and access governance for CDP 2.0 users by providing a centralized view of over 1,700 data assets. Previously, users lacked a clear way to determine which data assets were accessible or how to request access, relying solely on messaging the Data Governance team, which was a process that was inefficient and time-consuming. By clearly highlighting the accessibility status of each asset, the dashboard has streamlined the access request process, reducing confusion, improving efficiency, and providing a more transparent and user-friendly system. Furthermore, the dashboard was later expanded to support four additional business areas, providing visibility into over 4,000 data assets and further accelerating access processes across the organization.

Canada Data Communities of Practice and Communications Dashboard

The Communities of Practice tab provides valuable insights into the performance and engagement of Canada Life’s internal data-focused Communities of Practice (CoPs). I created visualizations that track key metrics, including cumulative subscriptions, attendance ratios, sentiment scores, and event distributions across various data communities, such as Data Engineering, AI, and Visualization.

Additionally, the Communications tab provides a detailed analysis of internal communication metrics, such as email open and click rates, peak engagement times, and read time distribution. These insights, which integrate various data sources like ContactMonkey and Microsoft Forms, enable leadership to better understand employee interactions and improve outreach strategies.

Impact

The development of these dashboards has enabled leadership to implement more effective communication strategies. For instance, email campaigns are now scheduled in the morning (around 9-10 AM) to maximize engagement and open rates. Additionally, the dashboards provided visibility into the number of events held across data-focused Communities of Practice, which previously operated independently without centralized tracking. This newfound transparency led to collaborative efforts among community leaders to increase the number of events, particularly during the summer, promoting greater engagement and collaboration.
